Welcome to Parlazo. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Parlazo website and services (the “Service”). By creating an account or booking a lesson, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Parlazo is an online marketplace that connects language students with independent teachers for one-on-one video lessons. Parlazo provides the platform; teachers are independent providers and not employees of Parlazo. We do not guarantee any particular learning outcome.
The teacher, not Parlazo, supplies the lesson to the student. Parlazo acts as the teacher’s agent in collecting payment on their behalf: we collect the lesson price from the student, retain our commission, and pass the balance to the teacher.
1a. Taxes
Because the teacher supplies the lesson, the teacher is responsible for any VAT or other tax due on their lessons, including registering, charging, reporting and remitting it where their local rules require. Parlazo does not charge, collect or remit VAT on lesson prices on a teacher’s behalf. Teachers should take their own advice from a qualified tax adviser where they live.
Parlazo charges the teacher a commission for use of the platform, and invoices that commission monthly. Where a teacher is established in a different country from Parlazo and has given us a VAT number that validates against the EU’s VIES service, that invoice is issued without VAT under the reverse charge and the teacher accounts for the VAT themselves. Otherwise VAT is charged where it is due.

2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Booking and payment
- Lesson prices are set by each teacher and shown before you book.
- Payment is collected at the time of booking through our payment processor, Stripe. Parlazo does not store your full card details.
- A booking is confirmed only once the teacher accepts it. If a teacher declines, you are refunded in full.
4. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
5. Conduct
You agree to behave respectfully during lessons and not to use the Service for any unlawful, harassing, or abusive purpose. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
6. Lessons and recordings
Lessons take place over live video. You may not record a lesson without the other participant’s consent. Shared materials (notes, files, whiteboard) are visible to both participants of a lesson.
7. Liability
The Service is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parlazo is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for the conduct or content of teachers or students.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be communicated where appropriate. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
